Citation Nr: 18160515 Decision Date: 12/27/18 Archive Date: 12/26/18 DOCKET NO. 13-09 282A DATE: December 27, 2018 REMANDED The issue of service connection for glaucoma is remanded. The issue of service connection for a bilateral hearing loss disability is remanded. REASONS FOR REMAND The Veteran served on active duty from December 1972 to January 1975. This matter came before the Board of Veterans’ Appeals (Board) on appeal from a May 2011 rating decision issued by RO. The Veteran testified before the undersigned in a November 2015 video-conference hearing. A transcript of the hearing is included in the electronic claims file. The Board remanded the claims on appeal in June 2016 and November 2017 for additional development of the record. Specifically, the Board instructed the Agency of Original Jurisdiction (AOJ) to schedule the Veteran for VA examinations to evaluate the nature and etiology of his claimed hearing loss and glaucoma. The requested VA examinations were performed in November and December 2017. This appeal was processed using the Veterans Benefits Management System (VBMS) paperless claims processing system. 1. Entitlement to service connection for glaucoma is remanded. 2. Entitlement to service connection for bilateral hearing loss disability is remanded. VA must comply with its duty to assist and the issues of entitlement to service connection for glaucoma and a bilateral hearing loss disability are REMANDED for the following action: 1. The record reflects that the Veteran is in receipt of Social Security Administration (SSA) disability benefits. The duty to assist requires the VA to attempt to obtain records from other Federal agencies, including the SSA, when the VA has notice of the existence of such records. 2. Obtain copies of all SSA disability records and add to the VBMS file. If the search for such records is unsuccessful, documentation to that effect must be added to the claims file. Vito A.
